What causes indoor air pollution?

Many everyday products may create inferior indoor air quality in your Alliance home.

This includes:

  • Substances in [carpet, furniture and drapes that let off fumes
  • Cleaning sprays
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are often more efficient, modern homes don’t have fresh air the way older residences do. Secure weather stripping and storm doors keep indoor air in and outdoor air out. This provides more energy savings, but the lowered exchange of outdoor and indoor air can trigger particles accumulating inside.

When this occurs, a whole-house ventilation system is suggested. Ventilation systems replace dirty inside air for more breathable exterior air without sacrificing energy savings.
